Liberty State Park
Imagine walking on a quiet trail through the woods, hearing the birds chirp and leaves crunching underneath your feet. Then you round a corner, and look up to see the New York City skyline. Experience the surreal combination at New Jersey's Liberty State Park (libertystatepark.org) in Jersey City. The park sits less than 2,000 feet from the Statue of Liberty. It covers 1,212 acres and offers visitors spaces for picnicking, boating and fishing. The on-site Liberty Science Center (lsc.org) houses an IMAX theater and hosts educational events.
