Green Spaces
West Orange offers some recreational parks and open, green spaces that allow visitors to feel they have escaped the area's urban environment. Pack a picnic and head to the South Mountain Reservation (essex-countynj.org). This park covers more than 2,000 acres sits among the Watchung Mountains featuring an abundance of forested lands. Ideal for hikers, much of this park remains unspoiled and includes the a historic Revolutionary War beacon. Also visit the Eagle Rock Reservation (eaglerockreservation.org), known for its open spaces with views of the New York City skyline. In addition to city views and hiking trails, the park features a September 11th memorial.
