Freehold
Freehold is one of the oldest cities in the United States, dating back to the mid-17th century with strong ties to the American Revolution. It is perhaps best known, though, as the childhood home of one of New Jersey's favorite sons, Bruce Springsteen. Today the town is an eclectic mix of upscale shops and restaurants, and renovated Victorian homes. Visitors are encouraged to take a walking tour of downtown and visit the city's oldest building, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, which was built in 1683.
